The Fire Protection Designer is responsible for the complete design and management of fire protection projects to include design, submittal, survey, and fabrication. Designs include but are not limited to wet and dry sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, and fire pump room layouts.
The Fire Protection Designer performs the following duties:
reviews project specifications and creates sprinkler system layouts
performs hydraulic calculations to ensure system meets design requirements
creates material submittal packets and organizes submittals to state and municipal agencies
conducts surveys to minimize field conflicts
coordinates with architects, engineers, and other trades
conducts BIM coordination using Navisworks software
creates shop drawings and stocklists for purchasing and fabrication
completes As-Built drawings for finished installations
provides technical assistance to customers and field personnel
The Fire Protection Designer should possess the following qualifications:
5+ years of sprinkler system design experience, to include a variety of different systems and sizes and types of projects
Designer of Engineering Systems credential preferred or ability to obtain it
proficient in the use of AutoCAD and HydraCAD
experience with Revit preferred
knowledge of various sprinkler systems
understands and can apply the regulations set by NFPA
ability to perform all aspects of a complete design within budgeted design hours
ability to apply judgement and make decisions
ability to effectively manage projects with little to no input from others

Salary
Base Salary of $70K-$100K. Must have 5+ years of Fire Protection designer experience. Must be able to work out of the Madison office.
